I'm sure you've seen the quirky Science Channel show "How It's Made," where a narrator follows along every step of the way as a product is created (On today's episode: Hubcaps! Cotton Candy Machines! AT-AT Walkers!).
I thought it would be a good idea to play back our organization's structure, as it could be a bit confusing and to further define some key terms that we use in describing ourselves.
The Club refers to the To Be Named team that will be competing in the Midwest Premier League in 2027.
Gateway Football Group is a Missouri Non-Profit corporation with 501(c)(3) determination from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. We structured purposefully in this way to form:
- A Board of Directors, which oversees the business, legal, and financial operations of the organization;
- An Advisory Board, which helps to guide the elected Board of Directors in both the organization and future club matters; and
- A Sporting Operations group, which will oversee the direction and competition for our as-to-be-named club.
A more simple way to look at it: Gateway Football Group is the parent organization that acts as a steward of resources. The Advisory Board ensures that we are acting transparently. In 2026-7, Sporting Operations will be tasked with using resources allocated by the Board of Directors, under the supervision of the Advisory Board, to field a team in competition, including staffing decisions, play style, and game day experience.
Let's break it down.
Executive Committees
Board of Directors
Per our Bylaws, the Board of Directors is currently comprised of a President (Christine Miller), a Vice President (Stephen Bolen), a Secretary (Jeremy Webb), and a Treasurer (Phillip Caldwell). Other roles on the Board of Directors include Director of Communications (Tom Franklin), Director of Marketing (Joe Miller), and Director of Sporting Operations (Rain Davis).
Our transitionary Board of Directors was unanimously approved by voting membership to serve an initial 6-month term on October 5, 2025. This term will end on April 5, 2026, and a new election with all members will be held.
Now is a good time to note that you can become a member and participate in the election!
Advisory Board
We have an advisory board comprised of a group of active individuals with diverse backgrounds in both sporting and business. Once per week, the Board and Advisory Board meet to discuss organization matters, plan events, and run ideas to ground.
There is no set size of the Advisory Board, so if you are interested in participating, please reach out to Christine or Stephen and we can include you.
Sporting Operations
This is where the fun happens. Come 2026, we'll be looking at some crucial decisions related to our inaugural season in 2027. We are in fantastic hands with Rain Davis.
Member Committees
We have several member committees that we're looking to fill out as we grow. These committees will answer to the Board of Directors, but will play an important role in helping to shape the day to day operations of the organization and club.
As of today, those committees are:
- Membership Committee
- Outreach Committee
- Sponsorship / Grants Committee
- Technology Committee
- Marketing Committee
If you would like to get involved, the best way is to become a member and join our Discord. We have several channels dedicated to each of our committees and would welcome your input.
