Greetings fellow football enthusiasts! My name is Phillip Caldwell, the treasurer for the Gateway Football Group. I joined the group in its infancy as a relative recent convert to the soccer/football world who has found a home in the community it creates. I was intrigued by this particular group, as a father of two (a four year old and a 3 month old at the time of this writing) thinking this could be a truly special way to share the local soccer community and history with my kids.

As a born and raised St. Louis native, who ran off to the west coast for about two decades before returning, I have a special appreciation for the close-nit community St. Louis can create. From LA to Seattle, I had incredible experiences on the west coast (including my first ever professional soccer match in Seattle). But it never felt like something that would “stick” in the same way events back home did. And even though many things changed when I eventually moved back to St. Louis with my family, that sense of a real community was one thing that did not.

I came to the group with a decade of financial services career under my belt, working my way up from accountant to financial controller. With that background, I found a way to contribute to the establishment of this group as the treasurer and brought my financial acumen to the board of directors. Accurate and transparent financial reporting, and doing everything I can to maximize the value of every dollar, is what I pledge to bring to this club. I also promise to try and make the financial reporting understandable and even a little "fun" when possible.

I’m looking forward to the “third place” we’re building brick by brick, and the experiences my children can have with this club. Where the community comes together, cheers together, celebrates together and comforts each other after a heartbreaking defeat. I’m looking forward to building this club from the ground up.
